Timeline for our fic

OK, so I was reading the comments made in the "Open Letter" thread idylchild  made. It seems a little confusing. I think before we begin anything we really need to set a timeline of events. (If I'm to play Caius a timeline will help)
As as you know, I can't work unless I have some sort of grounding in *shudder* canon. Even if it is just my little toe. I do kinda need that basis.

From going through the books this is what I've got. Feel free to add or disagree with me and we'll be able to get a good grounding for our fic :)

Around 1000BC: Aro born/created.

We assume Marcus and Caius are around the same time (give or take a few hundred years) as in New Moon were told the Volturi formed "They are well over three thousand years ago"

500 AD: The Volturi defeat the Romanians and gain control of the Vampire world

Around 1100: The Immortal Children epidemic. Told this when Carlisle explains Kate/Tanya/Irina's mother is killed by the Volturi for having created an Immortal Child, even though she knew the Volturi had strictly forbidden the making of immortal children, happened before his time.
But this confuses me, as Carlisle also says he saw two immortal children that Aro had kept in the hope of studying and taming them.

1663 AD: Carlisle was turned into a vampire

1720 AD: Carlisle finds the Volturi and stays with them for a few decades

1800's: Benito creates the first new-born army. He and the army are destroyed by the Volturi before 1863 as we're told Maria turned Jasper to aid her in creating and upholding an army of new-borns. An idea she got from Benito.
If she had the idea of a new-born army while Benito was alive, it doesn't make sense to me that she would want someone like Jasper to keep them in check as she wouldn't have the fear of the Voltrui getting involved. It seems more likely to me that she was learning from Benito's mistake.

1800's: Alec and Jane turned and join the Volturi. Aro has there entire village destroyed (don't ya just love him?)

1861: American Civil War

1863: Jasper is turned

1918: Influenza outbreak. Carlisle, sees what he wants to see and decides to change Edward and damn his soul :P

2005: A new hideous problem is inflicted on Forks, Washington - Bella Swan arrives. A waste of trees (Volturi aside) is born and a nations youth is destroyed by inane, repetitive babble. Luckily though, girls now have set the bar for prospective suitors too high. They are set to be disappointed and alone forever. Thus lowering the amount of children born to these "generation twi" girls. The world is safe once again.

Missing anything, am I? :P

Well I dont trust anything on the internet so I noted the chapters the lexicon mentioned but checked the books to make sure. And I scanned the books stopping where I knew the Volturi were mentioned and earmarked bits about their histories etc I was quite bored last night, lol.
Regarding the wars. We are told they started much earlier than the 1800s, it was just that the idea to use new borns was Benitos.

Agreed!
From the gack that coats the Volturis eyes - they haven't moved out much over the last few hundred years of their reign

All very interesting to figure it out, I think. I'm most definately placing the twins in the 1800's or the late 1700's at least, due to Carlisle staying a few decades with the Volturi from 1720 onwards. And he never met Jane until the events in Eclipse.
Then we're told that Aro changes the twins himself (probably not trusting anyone else to even attempt it, such is the power and potential he sees in them). But by 1780-1800s, does Aro move out of Volterra for such things?
I think it's reasonable to assume that Eleazar scouted the twins, informed Aro of the potential, but because of the age, Aro wanted to wait. But told his guards to keep a close eye on them.
This turns out to be good as something triggers the villagers into burning the twins.
Now is when the real speculation starts - does (lets say) Eleazar return to Aro to tell him this and Aro quickly heads off to get the twins before they are burned alive. Then orders the destruction of the entire village.
Or does Eleazar rescue the twins from the flames and returns home to allow Aro to turn them?
Either way - I am thinking they aren't American. Perhaps not even English. I say if Aro wanted to keep a close eye on them until they aged, they were pretty close to Volterra (as in running distance for vampires) Otherwise I don't think he would have risked them being in such an environment, being in such danger, if he wanted them so much.
I mean, wouldn't it make sense, if they were from far afield, to bring them, as human, to Volterra. Even under false illusions until the time to break the news of vampires to them is ripe?

What we know in full is that Aro himself changed Jane and Alec and they became Volturi. Carlilse never met Jane until the events in Eclipse (2005/2006?) And Carlisle came to Volterra in 1720.
Jane can't be 1500's

What does that mean? Lol. Am I totally wrong or something?

I think it was a reply to Ky so it's probably lost in the mass but here is my theory on the twins.

(i can't abide twilight and want nothing to do with this if that is the direction we are heading in).
Well no, I didn't think we were going full on canon. But as I said - I do need at least a toe in some canon.
If that doesn't suit I can bow out as Caius and Sully?

Sorry if you took it up that I was throwing a wobbler with the whole 'if we dont stick with canon, I'm not playing' vibe I gave off there. That wasn't my intention. That's the problem with written word, it can be easily taken up wrong.
All I meant was that for me to play Caius, I need to get into the head of the person I came to see him as, from reading the books.
What I meant by get someone else for Caius and Sully is that it's Christmas week, I'm up to my neck. If we were to veer straight off from canon, it means I have to look deeper into the character of Caius and find him away from the twi-shite books. I just don't have the time right now, and you seem eager to play. So if I'm holding you up. I've no problem handing over sweet, precious, sadistic Cauis to someone else.

I know what you mean. I hate the books too. But my idea of the characters have a foothold in their characteristics from the books. Know what I mean?
As for Jesus, as I said, he always looked Italian in all the images Ive seen of him.

jesus was a jew, sweetheart
I don't know how to take that so I'll go with my first instinct - offended.
Do you think I'm a total idiot that I didn't comprehend that Jesus was Jewish?

You asked (what color is his hair, ash? and mary's?)
And I replied that in all the images I've seen him in he looks Italian. Why, because the majority of pictures of him take their origins from the paintings during the Renaissance.

I'm a John Frusciante fan, and we joke that John is (guitar) God. Mainly because he looks how Jesus has been portrayed many times.

Regarding Jesus - another thing I posted earlier you may of missed

Ohh, I've a theory on that. Know the way Jesus always looks like he's Italian.
Well, of course we get that image. Our idea of what Jesus looks like comes mainly from Renaissance paintings. Where did the Renaissance begin - Italy. So naturally the artists are going to take influence in what they see around them.
But think about it this way - who ruled the part of the world where Jesus is born all those years ago? Rome, of course. And what did some Roman soldiers do - they raped the local women.
What if Jesus did have some Italian looks about him? *know where I'm going with this? I'm not saying it out loud cos I am already burning in hell for this, lol*

By immortal children they refer to kids around two or three years old. They feed freely and just had no development. Whereas Jane and Alec, young as they are, still have some sort of savvy of right and wrong - yes and no. (granted, the right and wrong in judged in vampire terms)
And no, it wasn't Alec and Jane as after Aro realised they couldn't be tamed - and I guess he studied all he could study from them - he had them killed.

Yes, but come on, this is all in a book for America tweens. I doubt they'd know what a Carpathian or an Etruscan was. They probably thing meyer is like JK Rowling - making up her own words.

I remember reading a thing on yahoo answers. Some one wrote in that she heard Georgia was being invaded. She got really worried and said she was looking out her window all the time for sides of tanks etc.
Then some kind person pointed out, it wasn't the state Georgia that was being invaded.

Plus aren't we told that they sit in their "castles", didn't venture out "prey and diplomats came to us, seeking our favour" and then the Volturi burnt them out of it. That implies they were situated and not nomads.

you can't make romania a country in 500 CE
No but you can make a group of people be from an area, which just happens to become a country named Romania year later.

cannot burn witches in 19th c britain
See my notes on the twins
